The short version: FocusNexus has no server, no accounts of its own, no analytics, and no ads. Your data is stored in your own Google Drive and in your own browser. The developer never receives, sees, stores, or sells any of your data.
FocusNexus is developed and operated by Joseph O. Deasy, PhD (deasyj@mskcc.org · deasy@outlook.com). It is a personal and team task organizer delivered as static web pages; there is no backend service.
When you connect Google Drive, FocusNexus requests the narrowest Drive
permission Google offers (drive.file): it can only create files
and re-open files it created itself. It cannot see your documents,
photos, email, or anything else in your account. FocusNexus uses this access
solely to save and sync your own FocusNexus data. Google sign-in tokens are
held in your browser's session memory and are discarded when the tab closes;
they are never transmitted to the developer or to any third party.
FocusNexus's use of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
If you join a FocusNexus team, the team's shared board is stored in a Google Drive folder belonging to a dedicated team account chosen by the team's owner. Items you create or edit there — together with the email address you chose as your FocusNexus ID — are visible to the other members of that team, and only to them. Joining a team requires an invitation and a passphrase from the team owner. Your personal (non-team) data is never shared with anyone.
The feedback board is separate from the FocusNexus applications and is the one place where something you type is sent to the developer. It never has access to your task data, your Google Drive, or your Google sign-in. If you choose to post, the board stores what you enter — the text of your post, the kind of post, a name if you give one, and an email address only if you ask to be notified — in a Google Sheet in the developer's own Google account, through a Google Apps Script web app. Approved posts, with the name you gave and any reply, are shown publicly on the board. Your email address is never shown or shared; it is used only to send you a notice when your post receives a reply or is addressed in a release. The board sets no cookies and uses no analytics; your browser keeps a local list of your own recent posts so it can show them to you while they await review. Google, as the host of the Apps Script service, processes the request like any web request. To have a post or your email address removed, post the request on the board quoting the post's number, or write to the contact address below.
Because your data lives only in your Drive and your browser, deletion is entirely in your hands: delete the FocusNexus folder in your Google Drive, clear your browser's site data for this site, and — if you wish — revoke the app's access at myaccount.google.com/permissions. Apart from feedback-board posts you chose to submit (see above), the developer holds nothing to delete.
FocusNexus is a professional productivity tool and is not directed to children under 13.
If FocusNexus's data practices ever change (for example, if an optional server-backed feature is added), this policy will be updated here first, with a new effective date, before any such feature is enabled.
